JOB DESCRIPTION:
Design, develop and implement large scale distributed data warehouse applications based on the Apache Hadoop platform.
The Mobile leader in Internet business is looking for talented individuals that can help us build the next generation Business Intelligence platform. The ideal candidate has experience working with the Apache Hadoop platform and with the design and development of large scale distributed data warehouse applications. The candidate will be exected to take up responsibilities of a scrum master, coach juniors and provide technical leadership depending on the project role requirements.Applies wide technical knowledge by coaching and solving complex problems within own technology area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for specifying, planning, reporting, designing and testing in his/her area. Independently solves complex engineering problems in many technology areas. Coaches other team members in solving engineering problems. Actively participates in reviews of own or neighbouring projects. Has deep expertise on a technical competence area and more than one cross functional competence areas. Can act as a scrum master. Undertakes technical training responsibilities. Applies knowledge and skills to a range of activities. Has responsibility for training and overseeing a college graduate or very junior engineer.
For the project, this will include at a minimum
- Design and architect data processing framework for Data Management/Business Intelligence team
- Implement MapReduce jobs for complex data processing tasks
- Implement daily ingestion/aggregation jobs using Hive / Pig 20 /Custom Map Reduce
- Implement highly scalable infrastructure platform for the cloud
- Support and assist other teams in the group (QA, Release, and IT)
- Work with Customers/Architects and Development team in understanding and implementing the system.
- Research new technologies and expand development skills
SCOPE:
Individual Contributor in a variety of complex tasks within area of responsibility. Also coordinates day-to-day activities to meet project objectives. Carries out root/cause analysis in more complex problems. Can develop and implement recommendations.
IMPACT:
Impact is short-term and usually project in scope. Accountable for quality, accuracy and efficiency of own and/or team achievements. Actions and errors can have program, project, functional impact.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytically strong engineers with a solid background in distributed systems, operating systems, and system internals to study, benchmark and push performance limits of Hadoop Map Reduce and Distributed File System
- Java, Linux, Web Services, Hadoop, Cloud Computing Systems, MapReduce, PIG , Hive, Map Reduce
- Hands-on experience with Hadoop and/or Map Reduce , Scribe
- Good at scripting languages ( Perl/Python) , Unix Shell scripting , Regular expressions
- Exposure to protocols like HTTP/WebDav
- 7-9 years experience in developing distributed computing systems in Java. Of this 2+ years experience should be in designing and developing data processing applications using Apache Hadoop framework.
GOOD TO HAVE SKILLS:
Knowledge on Machine learning languages, Data Mining, Cascading, Lucene, HBase, PIG, Elastic Compute Cloud , Amazon EC2
