MeeGo is an open source, Linux project which brings together the Maemo project, headed up by Nokia, and Moblin, by Intel, into a single open source activity. MeeGo currently targets platforms such as netbooks, entry-level desktops, handheld computing and communications devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, connected TVs, and media phones. We are looking for a seasoned Software Architect in our global Architecture & Technology team that is engaged in creating strategic architecture and driving it into platform-wide product development. In this senior role, you will be responsible for System Architecture by:
· Owning certain domains and areas of MeeGo System Architecture with active participation in Open Source Communities
· Collaborating with other Architects to create and maintain architecture goals, target architecture, architecture roadmap, system requirements and interfaces
· Educating multiple product development teams in architecture best practices to ensure superior quality and system homogenity
· Working extensively across organizational boundaries for realizing end-to-end scenarios for outstanding consumer experience
· Contributing to global Architecture & Technology initiatives related to MeeGo Platform ensuring its effectiveness and competitiveness
Qualifications
Here are some of the things you will need to have in order to succeed in this role:
· Progressively increasing mobile and embedded software architecture experience (15+ years)
· Demonstrable excellence in problem solving, data structures and design patterns
· Deep knowledge of all the layers of Linux OS, particularly the mobile versions
· Exposure to domains like Media, Real Time Communication, Synchronization, Office Applications, Email, MMS, Browsing and Developer Platforms
· Expertise in C, C++, ARM/Intel Assembly Language and related tools
· Holistic understanding of all aspects of a mobile device, from hardware to applications
· Passion for innovation with excellent communication and inter-personal skills
· Ability to mentor other team members and evangelize both internally and externally
· Awareness of open source community practices and operating principles
· Understanding of the nuances of virtual, multi-site and multi-cultural organizations
· Master's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent
