Role Overview & Objectives

This JD is for the Client Technical Specialist) role with the Systems &
Technology Group (STG) for IBM ISA (India & South Asia)

Business Unit - Systems & Technology Group (STG) 

IBM Systems and Technology Group delivers value to clients with its technology innovation and expertise across the IT Infrastructure, which encompasses -IBM's servers, storage, IT infrastructure, engineering services, and semiconductor solutions. STG is often referred to as the ""hardware"" division ofIBM. STG's platform business units include System x, Power Systems, System z,Storage and Retail Store Solutions (RSS) STG is focused on helping business of all sizes build a dynamic infrastructure, one that will help clients reduce cost, improve service and manage risk.

Role Responsibilities :

• Work as a contributing member in the customer engagement team and provide technical assistance in strongly positioning IBM products/solutions to help win the business
• Understand client business, the technical environment including existing pain points and create winning solutions to address the requirements
• Treat & assist Business Partner organizations as IBM’s sales force and work for joint success
• This Specialist assures a solution's relevance to clients requirements, ensures technical feasibility, drives implementation planning and ensures successful deployment

• Engage and deliver Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs), trainings & product demos. Where required, co-ordinate benchmarks, customer workshops etc.

• Work with various stakeholders within & outside of IBM/STG, to ensure successful,ongoing business relations with client

• Play the role of a technology consultant to clients; build and manage trust-based, longterm relationships with customer’s organization on all levels

• Contribute to re-usable documentation and information for greater benefit of the team

• Build case studies off customer success stories, possess a good understanding of industry trends and be able to contribute/share relevant information among peers,industry community and industry press

• Position IBM as a preferred, total IT solutions and services partner

• Complete all levels of technical & non-technical competence certification as required by

IBM, from time to time to help enhance customer value and personal career growth Role Requirements
• Develop solid, deep technical skills, including hands-on, on the STG products
• Work on becoming a subject-matter expert in a chosen domain; be it servers, storage,
systems software etc.
• Possess excellent written/verbal communications skills
• Excellent presentation skills with ability to lead & manage discussions
• Strong people-networking, communicating, persuading and influencing skills
• Be a self-driven individual with the go-getter attitude
• Fast, self-learner who is abreast on the latest in technology, competition and the industry
landscape
• Be well-organized and to able to work with a sense of urgency

Preferred Technical Competence (for experienced candidates)

• Excellent understanding and application knowledge of:

o Operating systems & architectures


Windows, IBM AIX other Unix variants, Virtualization

o Middleware: popular

o Business tools & applications


Databases – DB2/Oracle, ETL tools, ERP – SAP, Siebel etc.
• Understanding of networking technologies and its impact in systems architectural design is a plus

• Strong knowledge of servers & architectures including sizing for applications

• Good understanding of storage technologies – storage types, tiering, provisioning,storage optimization etc.

• Knowledge across similar products, being able to articulate pros & cons of various offerings and applications

• Good knowledge and understanding of systems management tools

Required

Bachelor's Degree
English: Fluent
