Application Developer – Java/WebSphere/Perl Developer
Position Summary
The Integrated Services Team is the operational heart of IBM HR and comprised of deep subject matter experts across a broad spectrum of HR functions across the globe. The IST e-Learning Business Management Department operates in a customized ISO9000 environment. By doing this, we insure that we have repeatable and high quality processes which will provide our customers with solutions to their business needs that can then be replicated across other organizations. Additionally we adhere to all business controls, and compliance regulations set down by the CIO's office. We are audit ready in case the situation arises. The IT Specialist – Application Developer designs, develops and supports Global application solutions to meet client requirements in accordance with CIO development instructions and guidelines. They design, develop and/or re-engineer highly complex application components, and integrate software packages, programs and reusable objects residing on multiple platforms. Perform Ongoing Support (OGS) activities in support of applications for the Notes Client as well as the browser.
Responsibilities include:
Ability to work multiple shifts to provide global support on a dynamic schedule
Develop Program Specifications,
Perform Application Testing Activities,
Translate Business - I/T Requirements,
Understand Data Models,
Use Application Development Methodology's & Tools,
Use applications Strategies for Maintenance,
Development of tools using Perl and HTML
Use of WebSphere tool set and delivery tools,
Use test tools knowledge,
Use and knowledge of the Java Language,
Use ODBC/JDBC/SQL/CSS/JavaScript/Ajax/HTML,
Required to write technical documentation.
Skills:
Excellent 'Business English' written and verbal communication skills (other languages are a plus but not required)
Detail oriented under high pressure situations
Sense of urgency and excellent time management skills
Excellent customer relationship and teaming skills
Expert knowledge in Web development tools and techniques
Working knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel or Lotus Symphony)
Must be able to effectively work in a non-scripted support environment. 75% within documented process and 25% outside of normal process
4 years direct experience with IBM DB2
4 years direct experience with latest version(s) of Perl/Websphere and/or Java
Required
Bachelor's Degree
English: Fluent
