Job description
This role concentrates on the design of cloud infrastructure solutions including servers, storage, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the client. Included in the focus areas is the critical evaluation and selection of the software and hardware components of the infrastructure. Best practices in this role use various techniques including modelling, simulation, and testing to validate the designs and selected products. Cloud Infrastructure Specialist are responsible for performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure and designing the solution.
A key part of this role will be to design cloud delivery services. Design and provide solution for the ongoing delivery of managed services on the cloud platform. Whilst the candidate is not expected to be an expert in this area, an understanding of service delivery and an enthusiasm to become a subject matter expert in this space are essential.
You will be responsible for the following:
• The ability to discuss and present Cloud Computing concepts, approaches, and offerings with clients.
• An understanding of cloud solution approaches from a technical (infrastructure), service management, financial and sourcing perspective.
• The ability to facilitate Cloud related discussions and workshops as part of an early stage marketing activity or as part of a larger consulting engagement.
• partipate cloud computing strategy and roadmap development from a technical perspective including identification of potential obstacles and solutions regarding the use of cloud computing in a client environment.
• Participate Proof of concepts and pilots to support the use of cloud computing.
• Involved in the technical architecture for client’s cloud environment that addresses security, reliability, availability, capacity, latency, and other non-functional concerns
To be successful in the role, you need to demonstrate the following:
• Proven track record with a minimum of 3 years in solution architect experience, with strong specialist / architectural background in data centers, networking, virtualization, and service management.
• Strong knowledge of IBM Cloud offerings & competitive landscape
• Strong foundation in Virtualization & Service Management
• Flexible, continuous learner and knowledge sharer, excellent communicator, works well in team environment, appreciates challenge, comfortable and effective working in new areas that require experimentation and rapid problem solving.
Knowledge / Experience of VMware, Vcenter (any Hypervisor)
Knowledge / Experience of ISDM (IBM Service Delivery Manager)
Knowledge / Experience in Storage Virtualization
Knowledge / Experience in Networking and VLAN design
Relevant 5 years o experience required
Pre sales role, Expected to manage multiple deals at a time,
TCV range from <$1M to $10M, Expected to work extensively with Sales and directly with IBM Clients, Interlock with IMT and India Delivery Team as part of the Solution phase. E2E ownership of the complete technical solution and costing.
