General definition of the role: Architecture/Systems Engineering group is regarded as one of the critical teams within the R&D organization that sets a solid foundation for developing a predictable and reliable product with high quality
Technical Responsibilities: · The Leader of this group will be responsible for managing and guiding a group of engineers in defining product architectural and system requirements. This will also include the performance modeling/requirements of the product. · Develop Architectural and Performance evolution strategies in terms of scaling, stability, capacity etc.
· The main interfaces of this group would be Product Mgmt on one hand and the Development, Testing and Deployment groups on the other. · There will be a close working relationship with the Product Mgmt , In-country business development/deployment teams and Cluster Interface groups in understanding the business needs and translating that to implementable and measurable requirements. There should be clear traceability of the requirements · This group will also act as a solid consulting group to the downstream development groups during the SW development phase for clarifying the architecture, design and performance aspects of the product · The output of this group will be well defined Arch Requirements Doc (ARD), Systems/Performance Requirements Doc (SRD) that will be used by the Development groups
· To continuously improve the current Arch/Requirements processes within the scope of the SW development Life cycle to meet the changing/challenging needs of Product Enhancements, New Market Requirements, etc. · Develop metrics to demonstrate various aspects of architectural and requirements processes that depicts the clarity and coverage of the requirements. This aspect is very important and visible in delivering the product on time with high quality
Line Management Responsibilities: · Provides Frontline Leadership by continuously demonstrating role model behavior of process adherence and continuous improvement, paying attention to details, quality and schedule consciousness, good team player with visible interpersonal skills, effective handling of ambiguous situations etc. · To manage the completion of assignments to maintain schedule, estimated cost within planned scope

As Architect in Bangalore, you will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture design as well as technical leadership for the client & server development teams. You will be directly reporting to the head of NLT R&D in Bangalore as well as dotted line to the NLT pricipal architect. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that the design and implementation of the next generation of Nokia Lifetools solutions enables both rapid growth of new NLT functionality as well as is able to scale to 10s and 100s of millions of users. Architect will be responsible for the technical design of key components of the NLT backend, front-end and client. Your key activity will be to analyze the technical requirements, specify the end-to-end technical design, solve the technical problems and assist the development team to ensure the key requirements are properly addressed. Your responsibility will include: - Identifying the key requirements for the NLT services, analyzing their impact on the architecture and proposing solutions for their implementation. - Building detailed specifications, technical architecture and overall service framework including service management, delivery and billing methods. Ensuring the NLT service line has the most competitive and innovative software architecture. - architecting the NLT clients across difference device platforms - Selecting and reviewing the technology components, validating the design, guiding the implementation, integration and deployment. Identifying and solving the technical issues. - Building a scalable and robust architecture that will be capable of serving millions of users. The key requirements for the position are: - Minimum four years of directly relevant technical experience (e.g., providing architectural, design, development, technical support and/or advisory services for mobile or Web application development, especially on Nokia platforms) - Experience with enterprise level backbends, including O&M functionality, system logging, system alarms, system usage-records generation, enterprise database design. - Expert hands-on programming skills with web technologies (including AJAX), Symbian/S60 platform, Java ME / J2EE, Flash, desktop and/or mobile widgets - Experience on Internet architectures and backend technologies for internet-based service including server-side programming (PHP, RubyOnRails, Python, XML, RSS, ATOM), database design, database driven applications, scalable architectures, service provisioning, service integration and deployment. - Experience and knowledge of Nokia devices, developer platforms at the architect level.
