Job description

* Verifying the requirements received from Solution Architects or consultants viz-a-viz, the end customer ask (RFP or otherwise) and work with them to freeze the same. Provide a detailed Mechanical blue print of Data Center and other critical utilities. Design and review of Cooling system calculations in line with local standards, regulation, codes and safety requirements. (1) Design and review of available equipment options and coming out with the best solution detailed to the last line as required by the given DC & clean room standards. (2) Preparation and review of compliances & test and commissioning procedures, including assumptions, dependencies & risks in all stages of project. (3) Prepare draft & detailed documentation that is critical for successful execution of the solution for example site layouts, block diagrams, design calculation sheets, detailed BOM, design & execution drawings (system and coordinated), project plan, etc., (4) Preparing a comparative sheet equating various solutions in terms of TCO & PUE. (5) Working in tight timelines and on simultaneous opportunities with focus on first time right.


Working closely with IBM procurement to run the BOM with partners and provide a techno-commercial analysis of the components in scope. Provide the final priced BOM to the requestor along with all updated design drawings –Chiller, AHU, Piping, Ducting, Diffusors drawings, Component modelling etc. as per the requirement. Working on latest Cooling technologies like – High Density cooling – Rear door Heat exchanger, Cool Air containment, VFC etc. Provide necessary inputs to Draughtsman, Architect and other teams for proper integration of solution.


 Present the solution to the internal or external customers whenever needed. Be very aware and updated about latest technology trends in the core domain both inside and outside IBM. Should be able to write Tender specifications related to these components. Work closely with the delivery teams to accommodate any changes (in drawings and BOM) that may have come in post contract signing. To produce good for construction” and “As built” drawings when required. To help workout further best practices, build knowledge base and create repositories of the work done. Must work as per the defined processes and procedures.


# Required Skills - Technical and Non Technical


Desirable experience of 6-8 years in design of Mechanical system design with proven skills and execution capabilities. Detailed knowledge & experience of Mechanical systems like Chillers, pumps, Valves, CRACs and HVAC systems & all low side works like ducting, piping etc. Knowledge of Fire suppressions, design tools and associated systems an added advantage. Should have created and applied best practices in Cooling designs in mission critical facilities including High density cooling solution and also aware of latest Cooling trends. Knowledge and exposure to all major Mechanical Design Standards like ASHRAE, ISHRAE NBC, BEE & ECBC. Should have designed atleast 10 major projects involving Data Centers, or complex Industrial facilities including Cooling, PAC, Cool Air flow etc. Should also capable of designing water cooled, air cooled chilled water system including detailed heat load calculation, equipment selection & should have very good knowledge on latest products & technology updates etc. Experience on latest version of AutoCAD a must, knowledge/experience on Revit MEP or any other similar Mechanical design software is desirable.
